Round Trip to SHS in Builsa South District by IWHC Team

ROUND TRIP TO SHS IN BUILSA SOUTH DISTRICT BY IWHC TEAM

As part of our outreach education program, the IWHC team traveled to Kanjarga SHS and Fumbisi Senior High Agric School both in the Builsa South District of the Upper East Region. The purpose of the teams visit to these schools was to engage students on the iChoose Model. This is a model designed to help coach and mentor adolescents on the following; Choice, Growth, Commitment and Risky Behaviors.

The team made-up of five, lead by the Center Director, Madam Gladys Anayem made it first stop at the Kangarga Community Day Senior High School. The team were received by the teacher on duty, Mr. Emmanuel Awen, who warmly introduced the purpose of our visit. Madam Gladys in her introduction, encourage the students to aim higher and avoid attitudes which could impede them from attaining their dream. Presentations were on Choice, Growth, Commitment and Risky Behaviors were delivered other members of the team. Students asked questions on how to make the right choice, how to avoid negative influences and risky behaviors.

IWHC pledged to deliver a football and a volleyball to the school after a student asked a question on the activities to be engaged in when tempted to practice a risky behavior.

The team further addressed other concerns if the students during the Q & A session. In all, about 137 students were in attendance for the interaction.

At Fumbisi Senior High Agric School, the team were received by the Senior House Master, Mr. James Anang.  The team were led to the Dinning Hall of the school to meet and engage with the students. Presentations were made on Choice, Growth, Commitment and Risky Behaviors. Students were encouraged during the presentation to seek support from their teachers if they faced challenges with choices. They were made to know that their future depended largely on the decisions they would make today. In all, the team addressed a total of over 600 students.
