International Women’s Hope Centre (IWHC), a women’s advocacy group operating in the Upper East Region has extended its operations to the Builsa area. On Saturday, 6th August 2022, IWHC opened its Builsa area office.
While addressing patrons, Madam Gladys Anayem, the Centre Director said there was a need for joint stakeholder support in the well-being of women and adolescents in the region; particularly those faced with the challenge of unplanned pregnancies.
According to the Centre Director, the core mandate of the non-governmental organization is to provide mentorship services, medical education, skill training and support services to women and adolescents.
She added that the organization also extends services to rural areas by providing medical screenings and offering referral services to health facilities.
“IWHC as an organization has been operating in the Upper East Region for about nine years. As an organization, we are happy to be launching the Builsa Area office today. IWHC is an organization established to provide care and education for adolescents through medical education and support services.”
“As an organization, we provide help for the complete person-body, soul and spirit. We also extend services to rural areas by providing medical screening and making referrals to health care facilities as needed. We also provide skill training to students, communities and churches in the areas of liquid soap making, detergents, cake soaps, hand sanitisers, pastries and many more at no cost.”
In her delivery, she noted that the organization through personalized coaching and mentoring programs aims to reduce the increasing rate of teenage pregnancies in the region.
She added that the organization’s Relationship Under Construction (RUC) and the iChoose Youth Leadership Values programmes help the adolescent develop into women and men of grace, self-respecting and people who live honourable lives in society.
” It is our hope at IWHC that teen pregnancy is reduced or minimised in the region and beyond. This we believe can be achieved by sensitizing our adolescents on the need to abstain from premarital sex through our teaching models; the Relationship Under Construction (RUC) and the iChoose Youth Leadership Values program.”
“IWHC is a beacon of hope not for only women, but also, a mentorship programme to help the adolescents develop into women and men of grace, self-respecting and honouring members of society with emphasis on sexual integrity.”
While concluding, the Centre Director called all stakeholders to support the operation of the organization in the Builsa Area to achieve greater results and meaningfully change the lives of adolescents in the area.
“I strongly believe that with all key stakeholders like you involved in this programme, we will achieve greater results and bring meaningful change in the lives of our adolescents.”
